STRATEGIES

  • Goal 1: To provide nationally excellent chaplaincy services to PHS.
    • Attain a score of 85, patient satisfaction through Press Ganey
    • Explore and create an action plan to attain Council on Ministry in Specialized Settings (COMISS) recognition
  • Strategies:
    • Adhere to the department's Consistent Patient Contact Process
    • Collect and correlate data to ensure nationally excellent services
    • Create a COMISS study group
  • Goal 2: To integrate spirituality throughout PHS by:
    • Identifying the Department of Chaplaincy Services as the administrative, programmatic "home" for spirituality and health care initiatives, programs and activities
    • Bundling Spirituality and Health Care Initiatives into planning for every program, service, and facility that affects patients, families, staff
    • Ensuring that the Department of Chaplaincy Services is "at the table" as appropriate to represent the perspective of spirituality when programs, activities, or initiatives are being discussed and planned

    • Implement the MATRIX
  • Goal 3: To attract and retain quality chaplain team
    • Employ new CPE Supervisor, Coordinator of Community Pastoral Education (no budget impact)
    • Recruit Medical/Surgical Board Certified Chaplain for Presbyterian Hospital
    • Future chaplains as indicated by the creation of new facilities and/or programs
  • Strategies:
    • Recruit through personal and professional networks
    • Work with Human Resources to evaluate and determine appropriate salary ranges
    • Evaluate current job descriptions
    • Review and update department web site
  • Goal 4: To explore and develop an action plan to become the pre-eminent educational resource in the Southwest region
    • Develop an action plan to expand the CPE program
    • 200 attendees for 2007 Spirituality and Health conference
  • Strategies:
    • Create a CPE program expansion study group and include PAG
    • Expand marketing including a presenter of national prominence
    • Establish new funding (unrestricted) resources for the Spirituality and Health program through the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation
    • Offer continuing education opportunities for staff and community
