Classes offered:
Baby Basics & Beyond
Designed to enhance the early parenting experience by providing information & support. Includes Basic Infant CPR.
Big Brother/Big Sister Jr., 2 – 4 yrs. Old
Includes a tour of our maternity area, a movie and play activities to help children with big brother/big sister role.
Big Brother/Big Sister Sr., 5 – 10 yrs. old, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
Includes a tour of our maternity area, a movie and play activities to help children with big brother/big sister role.
Note: During flu season there will not be a tour.
Birthing Basics (Sundays) 12:00-6:00 p.m.
Quick course in techniques for dealing with labor & birth. Also, basic information on the process of labor and medical options/interventions is included. This class is a good option as a “refresher course” if this is not your first baby.
Breastfeeding
Designed by our certified lactation consultants, this class will help prepare you for your initial breastfeeding experience.
Benefits of breastfeeding, latch-on techniques, prevention of nipple and breast soreness and problem recognition will be topics covered.
Breastfeeding & Introduction to Solid Foods
Breastfeeding & Weaning
Breastfeeding Moms Support Group, Every Tuesday & Thursday, 11:00 a.m.
Come join us and meet other new moms and get your breastfeeding questions answered. This group will be facilitated by a lactation consultant.
Basic Infant CPR, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
This class teaches basic infant CPR (not a certification course).
Infant Massage, (Tuesdays), 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Learn infant massage techniques to provide emotional as well as physical benefits to baby.
(Baby should be at least 4 weeks of age.)
Maternity Tour, Every Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
**You don’t need to call to schedule a tour. We will meet at the Main Information Desk at the front entrance to hospital.
Tour the Birthing Center and Mom/Baby Care Units at Presbyterian Hospital.
**During flu season, children under 14 years of age are not allowed on maternity tours.
Doula (Labor Support Specialists) Chats
Come meet our Doulas and learn the benefits of having a labor support specialist with you at your birth.
Reservations preferred, but not required. Call 563-6500 to register or for more information.
Prep for Birthing (Mondays, 21 and under), 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Designed specifically for parents under 21, they are given information about healthy choices during the last weeks of pregnancy and techniques to effectively deal with labor & birth. Relaxation and breathing techniques and other comfort measures are taught. This class includes a tour of the maternity unit and a course text booklet to take home.
Prep for Birthing (Mondays at the Presbyterian Healthplex), 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Parents are given information about healthy choices during the last weeks of pregnancy and techniques to effectively deal with labor & birth. Relaxation and breathing techniques and other comfort measures are taught. This class includes a tour of the maternity unit and a course text booklet to take home.

This class is designed for parents over 30. Parents are given information about healthy choices during the last weeks of pregnancy and techniques to effectively deal with labor & birth. Relaxation and breathing techniques and other comfort measures are taught. This class includes a tour of the maternity unit and a course text booklet to take home.
Prep for Birthing (Saturdays), 2:00-4:30 pm
Parents are given information about healthy choices during the last weeks of pregnancy and techniques to effectively deal with labor & birth. Prep for Birthing-Accelerated (Sundays), 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
This class is offered in just two 4 hour classes. Parents are given information about healthy choices during the last weeks of pregnancy and techniques to effectively deal with labor & birth. Relaxation and breathing techniques and other comfort measures are taught. This class includes a course text booklet to take home.
