Hyperbaric medicine is the delivery of pressurized oxygen to the body that is best known for its ability to treat decompression sickness, a condition in which deep-sea divers who surface quickly develop nitrogen bubbles in their bloodstream.

In recent years, it has also proven effective for treating carbon monoxide poisoning, problem non-healing wounds, gas gangrene and certain other serious infections.

In order to earn this certification, participants must meet a number of requirements including being licensed in their field of practice and having 480 hours of experience in hyperbaric medicine.
