News Release: August 25, 2008
In only two days, Presbyterian employees performed community service to provide support in raising more than $8,350 as the biggest corporate fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters' (BBBS) 25th Annual Bowl for Kids' Sake tournament.
Throughout the statewide tournament, 160 teams competed at the Santa Ana Star Casino Starlight Lanes to raise a grand total of $105,000.
"Everyone at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico is grateful for the efforts of Presbyterian employees, who helped make the 25th Annual Bowl for Kids' Sake tournament the most successful in our history," said Jane Midgley, chief development officer for BBBS of Central New Mexico. "Presbyterian raised a substantial amount through their teams, and because of their enthusiasm, more children in New Mexico will have a caring adult in their lives."
The completion of the 2008 Bowl for Kids’ Sake marks the 25th anniversary of the event. Each year 500,000 people participate in local tournaments across the country and over 2 million donors make contributions in support. The money raised helps BBBS to continue their mission of improving the lives of children through nationwide one-on-one mentoring networks of "Bigs" and "Littles."
