About Presbyterian Health Plan

Presbyterian Health Plan has grown to become New Mexico's largest health plan and offers a full spectrum of health insurance choices to meet the diverse needs of New Mexicans. We offer plans for those who qualify for the state's Medicaid program, Medicare beneficiaries, and employers who wish to offer medical benefits to their employees. Even individuals who buy insurance on their own can find a plan to fit their needs with Presbyterian. And with more than 9,000 physicians and healthcare providers in our network of caregivers, our members can get the care they need where they live or work.

Today, nearly 400,000 New Mexicans are enrolled in a Presbyterian plan and have come to know the high quality of care, for which we have received national recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

More importantly, our quality is reflected in the health and wellness of our members and the ease with which they and their healthcare providers access health information and services. We are emerging as a national leader in online services, offering an abundance of Web-based tools and information for our members and network providers. Individuals can even purchase health insurance in just minutes with our online services.

Presbyterian Health Plan has also invested in healthcare technologies and strategies that help more New Mexicans maintain or improve health through prevention and management of diseases and illnesses. We can now identify members who are likely to face catastrophic health problems and can advise them on healthcare and wellness strategies to help avoid these conditions. Additionally, we are continuously working to improve breast cancer screening rates, immunization rates, and the care of our members with asthma, diabetes and depression.

Presbyterian Health Plan and Presbyterian Insurance Company, Inc. offer an array of innovative and cost-conscious products and services to more than 2,000 New Mexico employers with as few as two employees to corporations with thousands of employees.

Individual Products and Services

New PPO plans give individuals who don't qualify for Medicaid, Medicare, or group plans more choices when purchasing health insurance while making it easy and affordable to seek preventive care.

Medicare Plans

Presbyterian is a Medicare Advantage Organization that contracts with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and offers HMO, PPO and prescription drug plans that all provide more than Original Medicare. Our HMO plan currently covers more than 17,000 seniors in New Mexico. Presbyterian MediCare PPO, a statewide plan, provides preventive care benefits and a choice of any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare. Presbyterian Prescription Drug plans allow Medicare beneficiaries to add prescription drug coverage while keeping Original Medicare for health coverage.

Medicaid Plans

New Mexicans, who qualify for health care under Medicaid, may have their benefits, such as; physician visits, pharmacy and hospital services, administered by Presbyterian Salud. More than 50% of qualifying New Mexicans choose Presbyterian Salud over all participating healthcare providers. Affordable coverage for lower-income workers is available through Presbyterian State Coverage Initiative.
