Extern Program
Presbyterian offers a way for nursing students to improve their clinical skills and critical thinking ability while being paid! Participants in the Presbyterian Extern Program can work up to 300 hours on a nursing unit over a one year period while going to nursing school.
Objectives of the Extern Program
- Integrating nursing theory into practice
- "Learn by doing"; Experience real word nursing as a working member of a nursing unit
- Obtain "hands on practice" mentored by experienced Registered Nurses
- Learn safe practice, current protocols and new skills working with patients while being paid
Program Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing Program

- BSN program student with completion of Nursing 1 or J1 clinical rotation or
- ADN program student with completion of Nursing 1 and within 12 months of program completio
- 2.5 GPA
- Interest in working for Presbyterian upon graduation

- Copy of CPR certification
- References from two clinical instructors
