Who can use the Pres e-Care service?
Any patient who sees a provider that is using Pres e-Care may use the service.
To use Pres e-Care, you must have an existing relationship with a provider using Pres e-Care. If you want to change to a new provider, who uses Pres e-Care, you must schedule an in-office visit before communicating with them online. Providers are being added regularly.
How do I know if my provider uses Pres e-Care?
View the list of participating providers. This list is continually updated, so check it often.
How much does it cost to communicate with my provider online?
The cost for a Pres e-Care web visit varies depending on whether or not your plan covers this service. Most Presbyterian medical plans cover online Web visits and require only a very minimal co-payment.
If your plan does not cover this service, the cost of the Web visit is $30 -- which in some cases is lower than a regular office visit co-payment.
The Presbyterian health plans that do not cover Web visits include the Advantage Care (HDHP), Indemnity, Minimum Healthcare Protection, Alliance, and certain ASO plans.
Contact your benefit manager or Presbyterian Member Services to determine your applicable co-payment.
Why should I use a webVisit?
- Communicate with your provider about non-urgent symptoms when it's most convenient for you
- Do it from anywhere with an Internet connection
- Skip unnecessary office visits and avoid telephone hassles
- The webVisit guides you through a dynamic medical interview and builds a concise message to your provider. You receive an answer from your provider online
- You can access sent and received messages at any time for easy, online reference
- Pres e-Care has stronger privacy and security compared to regular e-mail or the telephone
Is my privacy protected?
The Pres e-Care service is completely secure and compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Encryption technology and a stringent privacy policy protect your personal information more securely than either the telephone or regular e-mail. Your information is only accessible by you, your provider, and your provider's authorized staff.
