The orthopedic surgeon evaluates and treats acute, traumatic, chronic, and overuse injuries of the muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and joints by both surgical and non-surgical means.  An orthopedic surgeon may also limit the practice to a sub-specialty area such as hand, joint replacement, or spine.
