Behavioral Health Care

In addition to medical concerns, there may be times when you need help with mental health, alcohol or drug related problems. We call these services behavioral health care. OptumHealth provides your behavioral health benefits. To access behavioral health services, call OptumHealth at 1-866-660-7185.

How do I get behavioral health care?

There are four ways you can get behavioral health care:

• Call OptumHealth 24 hours a day at 1-866-660-7185.
• Call your behavioral health practitioner.
• Call your PCP. He or she will help you get the care you need.
• If you need transportation to a behavioral health appointment, call Presbyterian Salud Customer Service at (505) 923-5200 or toll free, 1-888-977-2333, to arrange for a ride.

Do I need a referral to get Behavioral Health Services?

No. You do not need a referral from your PCP for behavioral health care. You can go directly to a behavioral health provider for help. Presbyterian Salud encourages you to tell your PCP if you are using behavioral health care services. However, it is your right to not tell your PCP that you are using these ervices. Please call OptumHealth at 1-866-660-7185 with any questions about a behavioral health referral.

What should I do if I have a behavioral health care emergency?

If you are having an emergency (for example, if you feel like hurting yourself or others or if you are not able to take care of yourself), you should do one of these things:

• Call 911.
• Call the behavioral health benefits provider, OptumHealth, at 1-866-660-7185.
• Go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

What should I expect when I try to get behavioral health care?

When you call OptumHealth, they will help you get the care you need. The representative will ask for your Medicaid ID number. You can find that number on your Presbyterian Salud member ID card. They can help you find a practitioner or let you speak to a clinical coordinator if you are not sure about what kind of help you need.

What if I am already getting behavioral health care?

You may need to choose a different practitioner for your behavioral health care. OptumHealth can help you select a practitioner that is in their network. Contact OptumHealth at 1-866-660-7185 with any questions.
