PRESBYTERIAN HEALTH PLAN TOP-RANKED HEALTH PLAN IN NEW MEXICO, ACCORDING TO U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT/NCQA
Presbyterian's Employer, Medicaid and Medicare Plans Highest Ranked in NM
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Presbyterian Health Plan announced today that it has been listed as the top-ranked health plan in New Mexico by U.S. News & World Report in the magazine’s November 17 "American’s Best Health Plans" issue.
Presbyterian received the top rankings in New Mexico for its commercial plan purchased by employers and employees, as well as its Medicaid and Medicare plans. Presbyterian Salud, a Medicaid plan, was not only ranked first in the state, but also rated 22nd overall in the nation.
"The rewarding part of the U.S. News and World Report rankings is that they measure the quality of the care our members receive as well as how satisfied our members are with their care and service. It's a great validation of the work we do every day to improve the health of New Mexicans," said Dennis Batey, M.D., president of Presbyterian Health Plan.
The rankings are created using a weighted formula and include quality measures (HEDIS), satisfaction scores (CAHPS) and accreditation status (NCQA). Analysis includes comparison and benchmarks at the national level.
Batey noted that while a health plan can do much to help manage and coordinate the care its members receive, it is really the physicians, practitioners and hospitals in the Presbyterian Health Plan network that produce the health outcomes that create these top rankings.
Detail on the rankings can be found at www.usnews.com. Presbyterian Health Plan serves more than 450,000 New Mexicans, and is part of the Presbyterian Healthcare Services family.
Presbyterian Healthcare Services was founded in New Mexico in 1908, and is the state’s only private, not-for-profit healthcare system. As New Mexico’s largest provider of healthcare, Presbyterian includes seven hospitals, the state's largest health plan, a strong and growing medical group. Presbyterian employs more than 9,000 people throughout New Mexico who serve to improve the health of individuals, families and communities.
