Presbyterian Offers a Wealth of Health Education

Classes for Seniors
The Presbyterian Senior Connection program offers Free Presentations on Aging Issues twice a month at the Healthplex. Topics are specifically chosen to address common issues of seniors and aging.

The Presbyterian Women's Center
The Presbyterian Women's Center offers a myriad of educational classes for parents and families. Offerings include Baby Basics and Beyond, Big Brother/Big Sister, Birthing Basics, Breastfeeding, Breastfeeding and Returning to Work, Fathers in Training, Doula Chats, Infant CPR, Infant Massage, Maternity Tour, and Prep for Birthing. Healthy Pathways Health Promotion Classes
Meditation, Cancer, and Arthritis classes are available to all adults seeking health promotion education. Contact and registration information is provided with each of the class descriptions below.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Class Description: If you truly want to reduce stress in your life and improve your health, this is the class to take. Overcome stress, sleep better, lose weight, reduce pain, fatigue and much more so you can live a happier, healthy life. Michelle DuVal is now leading the workshop for her father and previous workshop leader who studied with Deepak Chopra and Dr. Dan Brown of Harvard Medical School. Ms. DuVal offers the class monthly. Continuing education credits are available upon completion of the class.

Taking Charge: A Cancer Support Group

Location: Presbyterian Kaseman, Sandia Room

Class Description: An education program for persons with Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, or Myeloma and the families and friends of those persons. This is a collaborative offering with the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Class facilitators are Jamie McDonald, MSW, LISW and Frida Bauer, RN

Look Good/ Feel Better

Location: Kaseman Presbyterian - Presbyterian Kaseman MD Anderson Center

Class Description: Topics include effects of chemo and radiation treatments, how to enhance appearance, and make-overs. Participants will receive a free cosmetic kit. This is a collaborative offering with the American Cancer Society

Arthritis Management Class

Location: Presbyterian Healthplex

Class Description: Topics include: Introduction to various types and treatments for arthritis, medications and supplements, joint protection, pain and stress management, how Rheumatoid/Osteoarthritis affects the hands, and joint adaptive aids to increase independence. Osteoporosis treatment and management are also covered.
