Chuckwagon Slaw

Ingredients:

  • 1 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 carrots, shredded
  • 6 green onions, thinly sliced with most of green end remaining
  • ½ green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground celery seed
  • 3 Tablespoons white vinegar
  • 6 Tablespoons mild to medium picante sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Dash of white pepper
  • Dash of salt, optional

Directions:

  1. Combine cabbage, carrots, onions and bell pepper in large bowl.
  2. To make dressing, combine ground celery seed, vinegar, picante sauce, sugar, pepper, and salt if used, in a small bowl.
  3. Mix until sugar is dissolved.
  4. Pour dressing over cabbage mixture and toss until well coated.
  5. Cover and store in refrigerate for at least four hours before serving.

Yield: 6 2/3 cups
