Baked Apple

Ingredients
- 4 apples
- 2 cups water or apple juice
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice or ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- Granola, optional
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°
- With a paring knife, make a light circular incision one-third of the way down from the top of each apple
- Remove the core of each apple with an apple corer or paring knife
- Place the apples into a small baking dish and add the water or apple juice so that the liquid comes about ½ inch up the side of the apples
- Bake for 40 to 50 minutes
- Remove apples to a plate and drain juices into a small saucepan
- To the liquid, add cinnamon, allspice or cloves, and brown sugar
- Boil until the liquid is thickened and syrupy and pour over apples. Sprinkle with granola, if desired
- Serve immediately
