Healthplex Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehab will improve the lives of your patients with pulmonary disease! 

Pulmonary Rehab at the Presbyterian Healthplex is designed to control and alleviate symptoms, optimize functional capacity, and enhance the quality of life for people with chronic pulmonary diseases such as:

  • COPD
  • Emphysema
  • Chronic Bronchitis
  • Chronic Asthma
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome
  • Chronic and Exertional Hypoxemia

According to the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), demonstrated outcomes of pulmonary rehabilitation include:

  • Improved quality of life
  • Reduced hospitalizations and use of medical resources
  • Reduced respiratory symptoms (e.g., dyspnea)
  • Increased exercise tolerance and performance
  • Enhanced ability to perform activities of daily living
  • Increased knowledge about pulmonary disease and its management

Program Specifics

  • Requires a physician referral
  • Requires a pulmonary diagnosis
  • Most insurances will cover all or part of the payment
  • 24 visits of exercise and education classes

Program Components

Pre- and post- program individual fitness assessment, including:

  • Health history
  • Body measurements
  • Vital sign parameters and oxygen saturation level
  • Fitness testing

Education training

  • Breathing techniques
  • Bronchial hygiene
  • Proper use of metered dose inhalers
  • Medications
  • Exercise techniques
  • Energy conservation
  • Coping skills
  • Proper nutrition
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Traveling with oxygen

Individualized exercise prescription

Healthplex Exercise Specialists develop personalized exercise programs based on your medical history and personal fitness goals complete with instruction and supervision.

Psychosocial support

Not only will participation in this program increase fitness and knowledge levels, it will provide you the opportunity to develop supportive and nurturing relationships with colleagues and staff to ensure program success.

After Rehab
