Have you received exceptional patient care from one of our Presbyterian nurses? Please share with us a specific story about how they demonstrated their exceptional patient care.

Nominating a nurse for a DAISY Award is a wonderful way to say thank you.

Nominate a nurse for a DAISY Award by filling out our online form

Presbyterian Hospital has chosen to partner with the DAISY Foundation because we believe it is extremely important to recognize the wonderful work our nurses do every day. Presbyterian wants to make sure we spotlight some of our nursing heroes on a regular basis.

DAISY Award honorees personify Presbyterian’s goal to provide each patient with an exceptional experience. These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care. They consistently put people first; focus on the “whole” patient - body, mind and spirit; and strive for high performance through excellence, innovation, teamwork and trust.

At this time, the DAISY Award is only available for Presbyterian Hospital nurses.  Based on its success this year, it may be spread to other Presbyterian facilities in 2012.

What is the DAISY Award?

The DAISY Foundation was established in 2000 after the death of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died of ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura) so DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. During Pat’s eight week hospitalization, he and his family were awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided not only to Pat, but to everyone in his family.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses was created by the Barnes family as a way to say thank you to nurses around the country. They believe nurses are truly "unsung heroes".
Presbyterian will present the DAISY Award quarterly to three deserving nurses. Nomination deadlines are as follows:

Quarter 1 - March 31
Quarter 2 - June 30
Quarter 3 - September 30
Quarter 4 - December 31
Presentations will be held in the middle of the following month

Patients, families, visitors, nurses, physicians and other employees may nominate a deserving nurse by filling out the
online form.
