Woman to Woman: Marie

I moved to Albuquerque nearly 50 years ago. My three children and three grandchildren were born at Presbyterian Hospital and I've had gynecological surgery here.

As I got older, I thought that "leaking" was normal. I didn't understand what was happening—and I tried to live with the embarrassment and the inconvenience. Every time I sneezed, I leaked. And I started to limit my time away from home because of the problem.

Then, during a routine physical, my gynecologist asked me about it. When I told her what was happening, she had several options for me. What a relief to find a treatment. I've just had surgery to treat my urinary incontinence and prolapsed uterus. It was probably the best operation I've ever had.

I've always had confidence in the doctors here. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

The Women's Center at Presbyterian Hospital is dedicated to improving women's health. Comprehensive gynecological health care including laparoscopic hysterectomy procedures which reduce recovery time and scarring, and treatment for urinary incontinence through advanced urodynamics testing are provided by board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners.
