Jan 19 - Are You Sleeping Well or Just Tossing and Turning?  Bruce A. Miller, MD 

Insomnia in women becomes more common in midlife and beyond.  Learn simple ways to help you fall asleep and stay asleep.  Avoid the nocturnal "no-nos."

 

Feb 16 - A Woman's Guide to a Health Heart--Kathleen Blake, MD

We will review the major risk factors for heart disease in women and how these can be modified.  We will also discuss the symptoms of a heart attack, as these can be different in women compared to men.

 

Mar 16 - Surveying the Many Facets of Lab Testing From a Simple Point of View--Tom White, Highland Pharmacy

Lab testing options available to the general public include saliva, blood spot, urine, hair analysis and traditional blood testing.  We will answer some frequently asked questions, make suggestions about useful tests and discuss how hormones and supplements may play a role to improve test results.  An added treat will be $1,000 in giveaways.

 

Apr 20 - Osteoporosis, Advances and Outcomes of Compression Fractures--Keith Harvie, DO

Compression fractures from osteoporosis often lead to pain and diminished function.  Past treatments were typically invasive and had variable results.  Dr. Harvie will present new diagnostic modalities, pharmaceutical therapies and surgical therapies that may help to relieve pain and improve function.  Find out how modern medications and procedures work.  Often with better results and without as much trauma to the patient.

 

May 18 - Alzheimer's Disease: A Journey Through Time--Betty Kuehne, Program Director, Alzheimer's Association. 

Am I losing my mind? Can I find it again?  How can we increase our chances of preventing Alzheimer's and are there any new treatments available to patients?  Learn how to help keep your memory sharp and active.

 

June 15 - Break the Pain Cycle--Susan Walsh, Community Development Specialist of the NM Arthritis Foundation

Women can better control their arthritis by applying easy to use pain management skills.  Physical and cognitive techniques of pain management will be discussed along with making informed decisions about treatment.
