Home Health Care

Home health care is expert medical care delivered in the comfort of one's own home. PRMC Home Health Care gives patients the option to maintain their independence while getting the health care they need.

While many patients are seniors, home health care also benefits premature infants and people of all ages who are recovering from surgery.

Services

  • Wound care
  • Cardiac and pulmonary care
  • Care for premature infants

Home health care is generally less expensive than hospital or nursing home care. Under many circumstances, Medicaid and Medicare will pay 100 percent of the cost of home health care. Also, most other insurance carriers cover this service.

Hospice

Hospice is help when you need it most.

Plains Regional Medical Center Hospice provides support and care to patients with terminal illness and their families. Hospice patients receive services from a team of physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors and chaplains who are all dedicated to meeting the patients final wishes and helping the family have time together that is as meaningful as possible.

Most insurance plans pay for hospice

Both Medicare and Medicaid cover hospice care, including expenses for medication and equipment. Most other insurance plans cover hospice expenses.

A time for hospice

To receive hospice care, a physician must certify that the patient has a life expectancy of six months or less. Also, the patient must choose comfort care rather than aggressive treatment. Patients can receive hospice care at home, in assisted living, in a nursing home or at Plains Regional Medical Center.
