How to Prevent Asthma Symptoms

To prevent asthma symptoms:

  • Learn about your asthma and how you can control it.
  • Use medications as prescribed to prevent or stop attacks.
  • Avoid things that make your asthma worse.
  • Get regular checkups from your Primary Care Practitioner/Family Practitioner.
  • Try to avoid getting colds or the flu by washing your hands often and getting a flu shot every year. Children with asthma should get flu shots, too.
  • Follow your asthma action plan.
