Presbyterian was one of the first six health care organizations to receive a waiver to participate in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Acute Care at Home program.
The program will pay for Hospital at Home services for Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries during the continuing public health emergency due to COVID-19.
Presbyterian has offered Hospital at Home since 2008, admitting qualifying patients to hospital-level care at home. Prior to the CMS initiative, Presbyterian Health Plan was the only health plan to pay for the service n New Mexico.
Presbyterian is now scaling up the program to meet additional CMS requirements, Dr. Nancy Guinn told Today’s Hospitalist.
