Presbyterian Partners with MD Urgent Care to Add Two New Locations and 50 Employees to the Presbyterian System

Release Date:

December 4, 2012

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Presbyterian Healthcare Services announced last week that MD Urgent Care has joined the Presbyterian system. MD Urgent Care has two successful facilities in Albuquerque and is known for outstanding customer service, low wait times and their responsiveness to patient needs.

“Presbyterian is creating more choices for customers by bringing together the two best urgent care clinics in the market, Presbyterian Urgent Care and MD Urgent Care,” said Lauren Cates, senior vice president Market Development and Operational Planning for Presbyterian.

MD Urgent Care will help create additional access to urgent care services for Albuquerque residents. MD Urgent Care will continue to operate as they do today. All MD Urgent Care employees will become Presbyterian employees as of December 21, 2012. Currently, MD Urgent Care has seven physicians, two physician assistants and 41 support staff.

All patients who use MD Urgent Care today are encouraged to continue receiving care at its locations in the Northeast Heights and on the Westside. Presbyterian’s intent is to maintain MD Urgent Care’s current insurance relationships, including Lovelace and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

“MD Urgent Care gains access to an integrated system and additional resources, which will help us continue to develop innovative ways of delivering quality care in the most convenient ways for patients,” said Tom Pascuzzi, MD, founder of MD Urgent Care, who will now become vice president and chief medical officer for Convenience Care Services at Presbyterian Healthcare Services.

Convenience Care Services is a new division within Presbyterian Healthcare Services, which will focus on designing new services for how consumers access healthcare. This division will be developing care options that are convenient for the customer, high quality and cost-efficient, such as mobile clinics, e-healthcare and partnering with employers to design work site care options to meet employee’s needs. Urgent care is the foundation of this new division.
