Presbyterian Hospital Receives Healthgrades’ 2016 Distinguished Hospital For Clinical Excellence™ Award

Release Date:

February 1, 2016

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Presbyterian Hospital is among the top five percent of hospitals in the nation to recently receive Healthgrades’ 2016 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence™.

Hospitals in the top five percent in the nation delivered high quality care across at least 21 of 32 common inpatient conditions and procedures as evaluated by Healthgrades. Presbyterian Hospital is one of only two hospitals in New Mexico to receive this award.

“Presbyterian is committed to providing quality care,” said Kathy Davis, RN, senior vice president and chief experience officer, Presbyterian Healthcare Services. “This recognition from Healthgrades demonstrates our dedication to improved clinical outcomes for our patients.”

Hospitals who receive this award are evaluated based on Medicare inpatient data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MEDPAR) data files. Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance for more than 4,500 hospitals across the nation in 39 procedures and conditions annually.

The 2016 analysis shows a relationship between improved clinical performance in sepsis treatment and improved clinical performance in other hospital-system conditions such as pneumonia, COPD, stroke, respiratory failure and heart failure.

Healthgrades, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, is the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Today, more than one million people a day use the Healthgrades websites to search, compare and connect with hospitals and physicians based on the most important measures when selecting a healthcare provider: experience, hospital quality and patient satisfaction.
