Funds help provide activities, medical play and more for pediatric patients at Presbyterian Hospital
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Spirit Halloween and the Scott Family recently presented Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation and The Children's Center at Presbyterian with a donation of
$85,840, which helps fund medical play and education tools for pediatric patients and their families as well as celebrations, books, art supplies, games and room décor to help children feel more relaxed and comfortable while in the hospital.
"We are thrilled to be able to help raise funds that support programs for pediatric patients and their families at Presbyterian Hospital," said Chris Scott, co-owner, Spirit Halloween. "It is through the generosity of our community members that we are able to raise these funds and make all of this possible."
Launched in 2006, Spirit Halloween's Spirit of Children program helps bring fun and funding to hospitals at Halloween and all year round. Spirit of Children's mission is to make hospitals less scary for kids and their families through support of the Child Life departments at more than 140 partner hospitals across the United States and Canada. Since 2007, the program has raised more than
$464,000 for Presbyterian and $37 million for hospitals nationwide.
"We are grateful to Spirit Halloween and the Scott Family for their continued support of our Child Life Program at Presbyterian Hospital," said John Pederson, MD, medical director, The Children's Center at Presbyterian. "These funds help us provide educational tools to our pediatric patients so they can better understand their diagnosis and treatment, art supplies, celebrations, ice cream parties, pizza parties, books, games, annual reunions and more. All of this is possible because of Spirit Halloween and the support of the community."
