Socorro General Hospital Employee Recognized for Child Safety Seat Work

Release Date:

March 22, 2018

SOCORRO, N.M. – Betty Cline has spent more than 20 years caring for children and families as a home visitor with the First Born Socorro & More program through Socorro General Hospital. A certified child safety technician, Cline has also helped New Mexico families ensure a safe fit for their child's car seat—including distributing 210 child safety seats from 2013-2016.

On March 15, Cline was recognized for her work with a New Mexico Child Safety Seat Distribution Program Service Award. She received the award from Safer New Mexico Now, which leads effective efforts to advance traffic safety in the state, including focusing on child passenger safety.

There is a great need in Socorro County for child safety seat education and installation, Cline said.

"I believe education is power and that no parent wants to put their child in harm's way," she said. "With this program, we are helping to keep children safe."

"Betty Cline is a wonderful home visitor and has provided this invaluable resource for more than 20 years," said Beth Beers, Director of Community Based Programs at Socorro General Hospital. "We are also very proud of her commitment to keeping our children safe through child safety seat education and honored that she is a member of our team."

Socorro General Hospital's First Born Socorro & More program offers free car seat safety training at 10 a.m. the last Wednesday of every month. For information call 575-835-8708 or 575-835-8791.
