Lincoln County Medical Center Recognizes Local Students with Scholarships

RUIDOSO, N.M. – Lincoln County Medical Center is awarding scholarships to four promising local students who are interested in pursuing health care careers.

Isaiah Otero, a Ruidoso High School senior who will attend the University of New Mexico and plans to become an orthopedic surgeon, and Shelby Southard, a senior at Capitan High School who will attend New Mexico State University and expects to study biomedical engineering, will earn the top awards of $1,000 per year for the next four years. 

Adrianna Romero, a senior at Capitan High School who will attend Grand Canyon University and expects to study dentistry, and Jazmine Nava, a senior at Ruidoso High School who will attend New Mexico State University and plans to study speech pathology, will both earn one-time awards of $1,000 each.

The students were selected by the Lincoln County Board of Directors based on their grades and extracurricular activities. To be eligible, students must plan on further study in a medical field.

"These promising students are taking the next step toward health care careers and we could not be more excited to help them," said Todd Oberheu, administrator, Lincoln County Medical Center.  "The future is bright for this next generation of health care leaders."
