Free Flu Shots Available at Upcoming Health Fairs

RUIDOSO, N.M. – Lincoln County Medical Center is hosting a series of free health fairs and flu shot clinics.

At our rural health clinics in Carrizozo, Corona and Capitan, health fairs will include FREE flu shots, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, eye exams, and information about respiratory and physical therapy.  The Carrizozo clinic will also provide giveaways and information about dental care.

  • Carrizozo: Friday, October 12, 1 p.m.- 3 p.m.
  • Capitan: Friday, October 19, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.
  • Corona: Wednesday, November 7, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

In addition, free flu shots will be available at the 7th Annual Stepping Into a Better You Health & Wellness fair at the Inn of the Mountain Gods on Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m.- 2p.m. More information about the fair is available here:

All community members are welcome to attend these free events – no RSVP needed. However, flu shots will be available only for community members 18 years old and older. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone six months and older receive the flu vaccine.  Please contact your child's primary care provider to receive a properly dosed flu shot.

The 2018-2019 flu vaccine will protect against four strains of seasonal flu:

  • Influenza A H3N2-type virus
  • Influenza A H1N1-type virus
  • Two Influenza B-type viruses
