SOCORRO, N.M. – Two providers have recently joined Socorro General Hospital.
Larry Voelker, D.O., is a specialist in family medicine and osteopathic manipulative therapy. Patricia Combs, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist at Lincoln County Medical Center in Ruidoso, New Mexico, has expanded her hours in Socorro and will now be available two days per week.
"Our goal is to recruit the best physicians to serve our community – we are thrilled to have Drs. Voelker and Combs on our team," said Veronica Pound, hospital chief executive, Socorro General Hospital.
Dr. Voelker earned his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona California. He completed his internship and residency training at Midwestern University in Arizona. Prior to coming to the Socorro General Medical Group, he was in private practice in Cave Creek, Arizona.
Dr. Combs earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico, where she also completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency, then stayed on as an attending physician for five years. She was previously in private practice in Los Alamos for 17 years, and was an employed physician in Hobbs for three years. Combs expanded her OB/GYN practice to Socorro because she loves the people, the proximity to the Bosque and she is closer to family in Albuquerque.
