February 6, 2019Press Release

Funds help provide education, activities and more for pediatric patients at Presbyterian Hospital

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Spirit Halloween and the Scott family recently presented Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation and The Children's Center at Presbyterian with a donation of $80,803 to fund educational materials for pediatric patients and their families as well as books, art supplies, games and more to help children feel more relaxed and comfortable while in the hospital.

"We are blown away by Spirit Halloween and the Scott family's continued support of our Child Life Program at Presbyterian Hospital," said John Pederson, M.D., medical director, The Children's Center at Presbyterian. "These critical funds help us provide educational tools for our pediatric patients so they can better understand their diagnosis and treatment. They also help with art supplies, ice cream and pizza parties, books, games, movies and annual reunion picnics for our patients and their families. We are so grateful to Spirit Halloween, the Scott family and the community for making this possible."

Launched in 2006, Spirit Halloween's Spirit of Children program helps bring fun and funding to hospitals at Halloween and all year round. Spirit of Children's mission is to make hospital stays less scary for kids and their families through support of the Child Life departments at more than 140 partner hospitals across the United States and Canada. Since 2007, the program has raised more than $544,803 for Presbyterian and $45 million for hospitals nationwide.
