More Than 500 Presbyterian Leaders Partner With Dozens Of Schools Across New Mexico To Promote Healthy Living - More than 10,000 children to participate in healthy activities on this day

October 18, 2013
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Presbyterian Healthcare Services turns 105 years old on October 24, and our commitment to improving the health of the communities we serve is as strong as ever. To celebrate our birthday and as part of our commitment to community health, Presbyterian is partnering with Albuquerque Public Schools and holding a Day of Service to help schoolchildren learn how fun it can be to stay active and eat healthfully.
For the second consecutive year, more than 500 Presbyterian leaders—ranging from department managers to senior vice presidents—will spend a day with children at 33 schools in Albuquerque. About 10,000 children are expected to join the fun, which will include hula-hooping, dancing, exercising and learning about healthy food. On October 24, Presbyterian leaders will also celebrate healthy living with 2,000 individuals in other communities across New Mexico, including Española, Socorro and Tucumcari.
“Our Day of Service is an important part of our commitment to improve the health of the patients, members and communities we serve, and we love being able to visit the schools and encourage kids to make healthy habits a part of their lives,” said Kathy Davis, RN, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Presbyterian.
