Presbyterian Hospital Opens Hybrid Operating Room

January 14, 2013

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Last week, Presbyterian Hospital opened a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room (OR).

The hybrid OR brings together the best of endovascular and open vascular surgery by providing a diagnostic and operative environment with the most advanced imaging technology. The advanced imaging allows surgeons to perform procedures in an OR setting that may have previously required these procedures be performed in two different locations. This allows a more complete treatment of vascular disease.

In addition to the advanced vascular treatment, the hybrid OR provides a better environment for complex cardiac interventions, such as lead extractions, in which more non-invasive procedures can be converted to urgent open procedures if needed. This improved process increases patient safety by eliminating the need for transfer and saves valuable time.

The hybrid OR enables the highest levels of quality control and houses the most modern surgical equipment to facilitate quick, informed decision-marking amongst the care team. Cutting-edge X-rays allows the clinical team to provide the highest quality care by allowing them to view the structures and repairs inside the body in real-time.
