Presbyterian Kaseman Internal Medicine Hosts Diabetes Day

WHEN: Tuesday, September 30 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

DETAILS: Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital’s internal medicine team hosts Diabetes Day twice a year to provide its patients with the resources and encouragement they need to manage their disease. Diabetes Day provides patients with the following in one convenient location:

  • Office visit or physical exam with their primary care physician
  • Review and update of key health maintenance information (i.e. immunizations, foot exam, lab work)
  • Podiatry referral
  • Ophthalmology referral
  • Community resources – representatives from My Chronic Disease, Kitchen Creations, RX Trails, Prescription for Wellness and Silver Sneakers will also be on site
  • A nutritionist, a certified diabetic educator and a behaviorlist to answer any questions the attendees may have

Also, as part of this year’s theme, “Activity for a Better Life”, patients will receive pedometers and can walk Kaseman’s Prescription Trail with available physicians and staff beginning at 12:15 p.m.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), diabetes affects 29.1 million people or 9.3 percent of the population and is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States. The CDC also states that diabetes can be treated and managed by healthful eating, regular physical activity and medications to lower blood glucose levels.
