Neurosurgery at Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center provides surgical and non-surgical care and management of the nervous systems, as well as the related support structures and blood supply, including:

  • Consultations for chronic pain

  • Decompression of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine for disc herniations or spinal (bony) degeneration

  • Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) to treat damaged cervical discs

  • Anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) surgery for conditions like degenerative disc disease or spondylolisthesis

  • Surgery for peripheral nerves including carpal tunnel release and ulnar nerve decompression

  • Treatment of chronic subdural hematoma (brain bleeds from falls or other injuries)

We offer care for more complex neurological issues at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, including:

  • Emergency care in our advanced primary stroke center for hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke

  • Emergency surgery for traumatic brain injuries

  • Middle meningeal artery embolization (using catheters in the blood vessels) to treat chronic subdural hematoma

  • Fusion of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine for nerve decompression, scoliosis or kyphosis, or to treat certain types of injuries

  • Microsurgical resection of spinal tumors (benign and malignant)

  • Pipeline stent flow diversion for aneurysms and vascular injury

  • Aneurysm and AVM treatment

  • Carotid angioplasty and stenting

  • Intracranial angioplasty and stenting

  • Open microsurgical clipping for brain aneurysms

  • Microvascular decompression

  • Tumor particle or coil embolization to reduce or cut off blood supply to tumors or abnormal growths

  • Surgery for brain tumors and skull base tumors

  • Vertebral artery angioplasty and stenting
