Wound Center

The Presbyterian Wound Center, located in Albuquerque, provides comprehensive wound assessment and treatment, as well as ostomy services. Our staff partners with physicians and patients to make use of advanced wound care products and therapies to decrease your pain and/or allow for faster healing.

Specialties & Services

We provide treatment for all types of wounds, including but not limited to:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous ulcerations
  • Arterial ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Second-degree burns
  • Post-traumatic wounds
  • Surgical wounds that are not properly healing
  • Abnormal wounds

Advanced therapies, such as:

  • Vacuum assisted closure
  • Skin substitutes
  • Wound care that speeds healing and decreases pain
  • Transcutaneous oxygen measurements

Additional services include:

  • Case management for chronic wounds or complex cases
  • Wound prevention through education and long-term follow-up care
  • Coordination with additional providers and/or services
  • OSTOMY SERVICES

    We also provide services for ostomy patients with the goal of helping improve their quality of life. Our certified ostomy specialists provide:

  • Pre-operative education and stoma site marking
  • Pouch system fitting
  • Assessment of inability to maintain a seal on the ostomy pouching system for a prolonged period of time
  • Assessment of peristomal skin issues (redness, irritation, etc.)
  • Introduction to a different pouching system
  • Hernia belt measurement
  • Stoma assessment, if there is a problem with the appearance of the stoma
  • Development of problem-solving plans
  • General assistance with stoma problems

NOTE: For your ostomy appointment, please bring a complete ostomy pouching system change to allow the ostomy nurse to review your pouching system items. A list of ostomy related questions are helpful to facilitate the visit. Also bring a completed patient history form located on the bottom of the webpage.
