COVID-19 Screening & Testing

Presbyterian has recently experienced an increase in asymptomatic (no symptoms) individuals seeking COVID-19 testing in our urgent cares, emergency departments and PRESNow locations. Please note that Presbyterian only offers testing for asymptomatic (no symptoms) individuals at the urgent care locations listed below.

Testing is a critical part of our fight against COVID-19. How do you know if you should get a test? 

  • Do I have any symptoms of COVID-19?
    (Symptoms may include a fever with a temperature over 100.0 F, chills or shivering, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, cough, difficulty breathing, a changed or reduced sense of smell or taste, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea.)
  • Have I had close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has been confirmed to have COVID-19?

If you answered yes to either you should be tested as soon as possible.

  • Testing will take place in the patient’s car in a designated parking space at the urgent care. When you arrive, park in one of these designated spaces and follow the instructions on the sign.
  • While we can test patients younger than 2 years of age, if we are unable to safely test them in the car, we will refer them to schedule an appointment with their provider or at a pediatric urgent care location.
  • Patients under age 18 must have a parent, guardian or power of attorney present to be tested.
  • Bring a picture ID, your insurance card(s) or insurance information.
  • Bring a mask and be prepared to wear it.

Generally, there is no charge to you for COVID-19 testing.

If you have health insurance, COVID-19 testing will be billed to your insurance. We will need your insurance information to do this for you. Your health insurer may still require you to pay a co-pay or high deductible costs that have to do with the COVID-19 test. While most insurances are covering these costs, you should check with your health insurer to find out more. If you receive any other services (such as blood tests, x-rays, or breathing treatments) at the same visit, you may have to pay out-of-pocket costs. Presbyterian is covering the cost of COVID-19 testing for individuals without insurance during the pandemic.
