Medicaid Basics

Coming Soon - Turquoise Care!

On July 1, Turquoise Care will replace Centennial Care Medicaid program.

Learn more about Turquoise Care Medicaid

Medicaid is a program set up in 1965 by the U.S. government. It provides health insurance for low-income individuals and families. Each state has its own Medicaid program. The requirements are very much the same throughout the country.

New Mexico’s Medicaid program was renamed Centennial Care on January 1, 2014. Presbyterian was chosen as one of the four health plans that could offer it. You are asked to choose a health plan to provide your Centennial Care benefits when you apply.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

You must meet certain federal guidelines to enroll in any Medicaid program. These requirements include:

  • Citizenship

  • Residency

  • Annual Income Limits

There is no cost to apply for Centennial Care. More people qualify now. You may qualify for Centennial Care even if you could not enroll in the old Medicaid program.

To learn more about Medicaid, visit the New Mexico Human Services Department’s website on Centennial Care

HOW DO YOU APPLY?

The New Mexico Human Services Department will process your application. You will be asked to choose a health plan when you apply. Presbyterian Health Plan is proud to be part of New Mexico’s Centennial Care program.

HOW TO APPLY

You may change the health plan that provides your Centennial Care benefits during your first 90 days of enrollment. For example, if you chose Presbyterian as your health plan but weren’t assigned to us, you have a chance to make this change within 90 days of your enrollment.

Such services are funded in part with the State of New Mexico.
