Two Presbyterian hospitals have been recognized by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) for delivering high-quality, life-saving care to patients experiencing heart attacks and chest pain.
Presbyterian Hospital earned the Platinum Performance Achievement Award, while Rust Medical Center received the Silver Performance Achievement Award through the ACC’s Chest Pain – MI Registry, a national program that uses data and evidence-based practices to improve cardiac care.
Presbyterian Hospital is the only hospital in New Mexico to achieve Platinum status for three consecutive years and has received ACC performance recognition for nearly a decade. Rust Medical Center earned Silver status for the second year in a row.
“When someone comes in with a heart attack, every minute counts,” said Dr. Adam Banks, a cardiologist with Presbyterian Healthcare Services. “These recognitions reflect how our teams work together to quickly diagnose, treat and stabilize patients using proven, evidence-based protocols and giving people the best possible chance at recovery.”
Participation in the registry helps hospitals continuously evaluate and improve care — from the moment a patient arrives in the emergency department through treatment and recovery — ensuring patients receive timely, coordinated care aligned with the latest clinical guidelines.
For patients and families across New Mexico, this means access to high-quality cardiac care close to home.
