CLOVIS, N.M. — Patients in Clovis and across eastern New Mexico will soon have greater access to advanced surgical care closer to home as Plains Regional Medical Center (PRMC) adds the da Vinci Xi Surgical System. The hospital’s first procedure using the new robotic-assisted surgical system is scheduled for late August.
The technology expands the surgical options available locally, giving PRMC surgeons another approach for performing certain minimally invasive procedures. For patients and families, having this technology available in Clovis can mean receiving advanced surgical care close to their homes, families and support systems without the added burden of traveling outside the region.
“We look forward to continuing to expand access to advanced surgical techniques for patients throughout eastern New Mexico, including robotic hernia repair, colon surgery and other procedures. Our goal is to provide safe, high-quality surgical care that gives patients more options and supports their health and recovery,” said Dr. Samuel C. Bieligk.
For appropriate procedures, robotic-assisted surgery can support smaller incisions and may help some patients experience less pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times. The system also provides surgeons with enhanced visualization and precision during procedures.
