Rio Rancho, N.M. — Presbyterian Rust Medical Center (RMC) is the only hospital in New Mexico to receive two Center of Excellence awards from Boston Scientific for advanced urologic procedures.
The designation recognizes hospitals that meet rigorous standards for patient education, outcomes, and procedural volume. RMC earned recognition for two procedures, reflecting the expertise of its urology and surgical teams led by Dr. Ghasem Imani.
“Many patients experience disruptions to sleep, limitations in daily activities, strain on personal relationships, and a diminished overall quality of life as a result of these conditions. The ability to provide solutions that are not only effective and minimally invasive but also genuinely transformative represents a meaningful advancement in improving patient well-being,” said Dr. Imani.
RMC was recognized for:
Rezum™ Water Vapor Therapy – a minimally invasive treatment for an enlarged prostate that typically takes about 10 minutes, requires no incisions, and improves urinary symptoms while preserving sexual function and minimizing the risk of urinary incontinence.
AMS 700™ Inflatable Penile Prosthesis – a surgical option for patients with erectile dysfunction when other treatments are ineffective, including for those undergoing prostate cancer treatment.
Presbyterian Rust Medical Center is a full-service hospital serving Rio Rancho and the greater Albuquerque area.
