Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Robotic Surgery

While every patient’s needs are different, some patients diagnosed with lung or esophageal cancer may be candidates for a minimally invasive surgery performed using the da Vinci robotic system

Using da Vinci, surgeons can perform very fine and detailed surgical work, using special magnifiers and tools, as well as a series of cameras to provide 3D and high definition (HD) images of the surgical site. This allows for smaller incisions and less healing time. Presbyterian’s cardiothoracic team includes specially trained surgeons who can use this technology to improve outcomes and allow their patients to return to daily activities more quickly. Working closely with Presbyterian’s Cancer Care team, including specialists in medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology, our surgeons can help you decide if this type of surgery is right for you.
