Nurse Midwives and Nurse Practitioners

What are certified nurse midwives (CNMs) and certified nurse practitioners (CNPs)?
Certified nurse midwives and certified nurse practitioners are two types of advanced practice providers who have specialized training in prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum care. They also provide specialized care for gynecological and women’s health needs.
Along with their nursing degree, nurse midwives also have advanced degrees in nurse midwifery. They are certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
Nurse practitioners also have advanced degrees in nursing and are certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB). Our providers have additional certification from The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).
