Menopause Services is a subspecialty of women’s care that focuses on the care and treatment of symptoms due to changes in a woman’s reproductive hormones. Menopause is a normal part of life and happens when the ovaries stop producing estrogen, usually when women are in their late 40s into their early 50s, and their menstrual cycles stop. Some women experience menopause earlier and some experience it later. For some women, other medical conditions or medications can cause menopause earlier than usual.
While menopause is a natural part of aging, there are many changes throughout your body that can cause bothersome symptoms. These often start several years before and last until several years after your final menstrual cycle. At Presbyterian, our team includes gynecologists and other women’s health professionals who are certified by The Menopause Society. They are trained in identifying these symptoms and offer a variety of treatment options to help ease this transition.
