What is Ouma?

Ouma is a virtual pregnancy and postpartum support service for Presbyterian Health Plan members. Ouma’s providers work with your local, in-person provider. As a member of your care team, they give support and guidance throughout your pregnancy to give you and your baby the right care when you need it.

What types of appointments are available?

All appointments are virtual. All you need is a smartphone, tablet or computer. After your first visit, you can send text messages to schedule appointments, ask questions, or see a virtual provider right away.

What can I be seen for?

  • First Prenatal Visit: Get your pregnancy off to a healthy start with an early prenatal visit (first trimester, or before 14 weeks). Ouma providers can order labs and ultrasounds as part of this first visit.

  • Prenatal Safety Net: Ouma offers virtual visits when you can’t make it to in-person appointment. You can also work with your Ouma and in-person provider to set up a mix of virtual and in-person visits that work for you.

  • Postpartum Visit: It’s important to stay in touch with your provider after you have a baby. Having a virtual visit during the first 12 weeks can help make sure you’re healing well and help support you. You have access to Ouma providers for the first year to manage any ongoing needs.

  • Lactation (Breastfeeding) Services: Visit with a board-certified lactation consultant to help with your breastfeeding and pumping concerns.

  • Behavioral Health: Feeling anxious, depressed or just not like yourself? These feelings can be common during and after pregnancy. Providers that specialize in pregnancy-related mood disorders can provide screening and rapid access to therapy and medication management. You can often be seen within 1-3 days.

  • Substance Use Program: Start your recovery journey with a caring and tailored plan. Your plan is created to help you. It may include a personalized medication plan, counseling and regular check-ins.

  • Remote Monitoring: Ouma and Presbyterian Health Plan partnered with Marani Health to provide 3G-cellular-enabled devices such as blood pressure cuffs and scales for at-home use. You can use the device and a smartphone app to monitor weight, blood pressure, and diabetes during your pregnancy. You’ll also get access to Marani’s mobile app. Use it to:

    • Message your care team

    • Read week-by-week pregnancy education

    • See upcoming tasks and history of all your device readings

Accepted Insurances

Members with Presbyterian Turquoise Care (Medicaid), Individual and Family, and Commercial employer plans can have a virtual visit during pregnancy or up to one year postpartum.
