How to Prepare for a Virtual Care Visit
October 8, 2026

A little preparation can help your virtual care visit go smoothly. Before your appointment, take a few simple steps to make sure you can connect with your provider and share the information they need to help you.
Before Your Visit
Choose a quiet, private place with good lighting and a dependable internet connection. If you are using video, check your camera, microphone, and speakers before the visit begins.
It also helps to gather important information in advance, including your medication list, pharmacy name, recent symptoms, and any questions you want to ask. If you have home readings, such as blood pressure, temperature, weight, or blood sugar, keep those numbers nearby.
During Your Visit
Speak clearly and describe your symptoms as specifically as you can. Be ready to share when your symptoms started, what makes them better or worse, and whether you have tried any home care or medications.
If something is unclear, ask your provider to repeat or explain next steps. Before the visit ends, make sure you understand your care plan, including any prescriptions, follow-up appointments, or signs that mean you should seek in-person or emergency care.
After Your Visit
Follow the instructions your provider gives you and contact your healthcare team if your symptoms change, get worse, or do not improve. If you receive a prescription, follow the directions carefully and ask questions if you are unsure how to take it.
