Regular Screenings Help You Stay Healthy

September 1, 2025

There are lots of things that can affect your chances of getting cancer—but the good news is, there are also smart choices you can make to help lower your risk. You probably already know that choosing less-processed foods and staying active are great ways to take care of your body. But did you know that getting regular cancer screenings is also an important part of staying healthy?

Screening tests can help find certain cancers early—before you feel sick—when treatment works best. These screenings can look for cancers like breast, cervical, colon, prostate, and lung cancer.

Here are the recommended cancer screenings by age group:

Ages 21–39

  • Cervical cancer (for women)

Ages 40–49

  • Breast cancer (for women)

  • Cervical cancer (for women)

  • Colon cancer (for both women and men)

Ages 50–65

  • Breast cancer (for women)

  • Cervical cancer (for women)

  • Colon cancer (for both women and men)

  • Lung cancer (for both women and men, if needed)

  • Prostate cancer (for men)

Ages 65 and Older

  • Breast cancer (for women)

  • Cervical cancer (for women, if needed)

  • Colon cancer (for both women and men)

  • Lung cancer (for both women and men, if needed)

Your healthcare provider can help you figure out which screenings are right for you based on your health, your family history, and your lifestyle. Taking care of your health now can make a big difference later!
