Telehealth: When a Virtual Visit May Be Right for You
October 8, 2026

Getting care does not always mean driving to a clinic or waiting for an in-person appointment. For many common health concerns, a virtual visit may be a convenient way to connect with a Presbyterian provider from home, work, or another private place with internet access.
When a Virtual Visit May Help
Telehealth can be helpful when your concern is not an emergency and does not require hands-on care right away. It can also make it easier to ask questions, get guidance, and decide what kind of care you may need next.
A virtual visit may be a good option for non-emergency health needs, follow-up questions, or symptoms that can often be reviewed online. It may help you save time, avoid travel, and receive care from a convenient location.
Minor cold, cough, allergy, or sinus symptoms
Medication questions or follow-up guidance
Routine questions about an ongoing health condition
Care guidance when you are unsure what type of visit you need
Behavioral health concerns that may be appropriate for a virtual appointment
What to Expect From a Virtual Visit
Virtual visits allow you to securely share information about your symptoms online. A provider reviews your answers and gives guidance about next steps. Depending on your needs, that may include home care instructions, a prescription when appropriate, or a recommendation for an in-person visit.
When to Seek In-person or Emergency Care
Some symptoms need immediate attention. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you have a medical emergency, such as chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of stroke, severe pain, major injury, or symptoms that feel life-threatening.
An in-person visit may also be better if your provider needs to complete a physical exam, listen to your heart or lungs, order lab work or imaging, collect a sample, or perform a procedure.
