PHS Vaccination Requirement for Volunteers

We know that vaccines are the best protection against COVID-19. As hospitalizations continue to grow and our hospitals reach capacity once more, the time is now for us to step up together and protect our communities, workforce and each other.

All Presbyterian employees, clinicians, members of the medical staff, contractors and volunteers are required to get vaccinated.

As set forth by the New Mexico Department of Health, the first dose must be obtained no later than Friday, August 27 and the second dose must be received within 40 days from first dose date. For those receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the deadline is Friday, August 27.

Volunteers who choose not to get vaccinated, and do not obtain an approved medical or religious exemption, may resign and will be placed on inactive status.

How can I get vaccinated?

You can register through the New Mexico Department of Health for a time and location that is convenient for you. Many local pharmacies offer walk-in appointments for ages 12 and older.

How will volunteers submit their vaccination information?

Presbyterian has created a portal where you may submit your vaccination information. To submit your paperwork, contact the Volunteer Manager at your site.

There are three limited exemptions. The limited exemptions include having a qualifying medical condition recognized by the FDA or CDC as a contraindication to a COVID-19 vaccine; having a disability requiring separate accommodation; or having a sincerely held religious belief requiring separate accommodation.

  • To be eligible for a medical or disability exemption, an individual must provide Presbyterian with either a written statement from a New Mexico licensed Physician or Advanced Practice Clinician validating the need for a medical or disability exemption; or
  • For a religious exemption, a documented request regarding the manner in which the administration of a COVID-19 vaccine conflicts with the religious observance, practice or sincerely held belief of the individual.

Please note, anyone granted an exemption must agree to COVID-19 testing on a weekly basis.

How do I submit my paperwork for an exemption?

Any medical or religious exemption forms are available through the Volunteer Manager at each site.
