Nephrology
Nephrology is a medical specialty that focuses on kidney (or renal) function. This includes systemic diseases that affect your entire body including the kidneys, such as diabetes and certain autoimmune diseases. Nephrologists also diagnose and treat problems such as blood in the urine, and abnormalities in sodium and potassium levels found on blood tests.
