Surgical Oncology

Surgical oncology is a specialty dedicated to the management of cancer through surgical treatment, helping to diagnose, stage, and treat cancer, and to manage some cancer-related symptoms. For some patients, surgical oncology will be combined with other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or hormone therapy. These nonsurgical treatments may be given before surgery or after surgery to help prevent cancer from growing, spreading, or reoccurring. In addition to the Presbyterian Medical Group oncology/hematology clinics, The Cancer Center at Presbyterian provides comprehensive cancer care services.
